Last night/early this a.m, Cpanel forced a newer update on all servers that has caused a perl module fault on some of the servers.

The symptoms are previously working cgi scripts now are giving internal 500 errors or some perl scripts etc give a DBI::mysql or DBD::Mysql missing error.

Also MySQL databases are showing connect errors on some servers.

We do know about the problem and are working on a fix as fast as possible
In the mean time if you experience any of the above problems go ahead and submit a support request email and the techs will see if they can get it going for you.

We are trying to work with the cPanel folks to come up with a fix for this issue but their site and help desk was bitten by it also and is down.

But rest assured we are working on the problems and hope to have them all cleared by the end of the day.

Thanks for your understanding.

Anne

Everything is back up and running, sites are all back up. Magic was down for all sites (not just perl and database scripts) -- sorry about that folks.

It all traces back to the cPanel fiasco when they screwed all the perl modules up (not just some on some of the servers as we originally thought). cPanel's upgrade last night destroyed all the perl modules on all servers. There was no way to restore that from backup; perl had to be rebuilt from scratch.

And then last night cPanel forced another security update on all the servers and crashed the glibcc lib. Believe me we were just as frustrated as you all were!

Thanks to Monte and the techs who worked straight through to get everything put back together again. Everything should be good to go now.

Additional note: Perl mods that were rebuilt were all the standard ones on all servers. If you requested an additional custom perl module installed for free on one of our servers, please check and see if your script still runs ok. I *think* they've gotten them all rebuilt but it doesn't hurt to check especially for some of the more obscure modules.

Thanks for your patience,
Anne
