View Full Version : Free Space

My control panel shows that I have used 33 mb of
disc space and have only 16 mb free. In times past
I've seen the free space increase when I've dumped
the trash, but on this occasion, the amount of
free space stayed the same.
I've looked through all of the folders under file
manager and find significant space being used
only by my web site and backup. Shouldn't have
an impact on what I'm describing here.
Any ideas on where else I can free up the space
because emails are bounced when the space
available is very small, and I'd like to avoid this
before it becomes a problem.

Hi Dale,
There was a minor glitch in cPanel on max this morning which caused a few accounts on that server to erroneously/incorrectly report disk space usage. That has been fixed.
Your accounts on both max and magic (since you did not specify which was affected) are reporting correctly. You should see approximately 17 & 14 MB usage, respectively.

Please check the first paragraph of following
and then see if it works as well as the current
procedure for dumping the trash.
New way to empty NeoMail Trash
Go to Control Panel/Mail/Neomail
Find small trash can on top bar of icons.
Left click the trash can and “Pow” the
trash is empty.
Old way to empty NeoMail Trash
Control Panel/File Manager
Left click “mail” icon
Left click “neomail trash” (Text-not icon)
Go to upper right of screen and left click “Delete File”
AND ALL THE TIME WORRY ABOUT WHETHER
YOU’RE CLICKING THE APPROPRIATE ICON OR
TEXT – BECAUSE IF YOU CLICK THE ICON AND
HIT THE “DELETE FILE” YOU’VE WRECKED YOUR
SYSTEM – MAYBE IRRPAIRABLY.
Then go back to the Control Panel Screen and see if
you’ve freed up the space you intended to free up…
sometimes yes and sometimes no.
If not, you go on the support and ask Anne what’s up,
and she figures it out for you, kind soul that she is.
Thanks for all your help, Anne…. do you find the
trash can click works as well as the old way?

Yes you can empty the Neomail trash much quicker and easier by just clicking the trash can icon in Neomail ... IF you have not already exceeded the disk space quota in your account. If you have already exceeded disk space, your email functions are frozen and you can't do anything in them -- you can't even successfully delete stuff from within your web mail.
The previous times you ran into this problem, you had already exceeded disk space in your hosting account so it was impossible to empty trash from within Neomail; it had to be done from within File Manager.

Exactly right, Anne. Thanks for the reminder about being
filled up and frozen.... I've learned to pay closer attention
and can now empty with the icon. It pays to keep an
eye on the level of used and empty.
Thanks again,
Dale
