Hopefully the first of many quick tips... there's a free app called Crap Cleaner.

Maybe you heard of it? You know if you have, name's kinda memorable.

If you work with websites alot, you obviously clean your browser cache a whole lot. And alot of apps do sweeping stuff like Crap Cleaner so I'm not saying it's the only one. If you've never heard of it, it removes browser cache files and alot more "crap."

Fringe benefit when you do tech support for Windows home customers, throw a desktop icon on there and they will appreciate how it's easy to use and it should make them feel good in a housekeeping and/or security way. The way they feel when they run Ad-Aware basically. One click problem be gone ya know.

Specifically, I will untick the box for recently typed url's (I like to see recently viewed sites in my address bar). Some people untick the box for recycle bin (want to leave recycle bin files sitting there just in case). Run (in Start menu) and Cookies I also leave those files. Take a look at the tick boxes before running it because it gets rid of alot maybe something you want to keep. There's about 15 things to choose from and it's intuitive first go.

That said, with one click, remove all temporary internet files, system temp files, index.dat files, recent documents, clipboard files, memory dump files and some other stuff that disrupt a good web experience like building a site.

Alot of times something won't work and a Crap Cleaner fixes the "crap" that caused it. Maybe in Firefox you're downloaded files for your blog or CMS but ultimately like after 20 downloads (you're experimenting) a subsequent download gets schrewy. You go in Firefox settings, remove the cache files and the download links are still schrewy. That's a good time to run the ol Crap Cleaner. One of those you'll never know but who cares issues.

Again it's free. No money or spyware costs incurred.
